On November 12, 2022 Jiangsu Postgraduate Research Innovation Competition on "Open Economy and Industrial Development (2nd)" was successfully held at Jiangsu University, hosted by Jiangsu Postgraduate Economics Education Steering Committee and organized by Jiangsu University School of Finance and Economics (Institute of Industrial Economics). Experts and scholars, young teachers and graduate students from nearly 30 institutions, including Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China Academy of Comprehensive Development Research, Beijing Normal University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Southeast University, Capital University of Economics and Business, Northeastern University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing University of Technology, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing Audit University, Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, Anhui University of Finance and Economics, etc., totaled 150 participants. More than 150 people participated in the competition online and offline.

    On the morning of November 12, the competition was grandly opened in the lecture hallway on the first floor of Jiangsu University Library. Prof. Pei Yu, Vice Director of the Steering Committee of Economics Postgraduate Education of Jiangsu Province and Vice President of Nanjing Audit University, Prof. Zhang Jijian, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Jiangsu University, and Prof. Cai Yingfeng, Executive Vice President of Graduate School of Jiangsu University delivered speeches successively. Professor Wu Mengyun, Dean of School of Finance and Economics of Jiangsu University presided over the opening ceremony. Secretary of Party Committee of School of Finance and Economics Wang Xiang, Vice President Professor Chen Haibo and Director of Institute of Industrial Economics Professor Hu Xuhua attended the opening ceremony.

    After the opening ceremony, Prof. Geng Chong, Dean of School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, gave a lecture entitled "Resource Constraints under China's Double Carbon Goal", Prof. Zhao Chunming, Vice Chairman of the Steering Committee of Economics and Trade of the Ministry of Education, Member of the National Steering Committee of Postgraduate Education of International Business of the Ministry of Education, Beijing Normal University Professor Zhao Chunming gave a lecture entitled "The Connotation and Path of Chinese Modernization", Associate Researcher Zhuang Qinqin of the Institute of Quantitative and Technical Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences gave a lecture entitled "The Application of Causal Inference Method in the Study of Innovation Economics", and the Institute of Regional Development Planning, China Academy of Comprehensive Development Research gave a lecture entitled "The Application of Causal Inference Method in the Study of Innovation Economics". Professor Liu Xiang, Director of the Institute of Regional Development Planning, China Academy of Comprehensive Development Research, gave a presentation entitled "China's Open Economy and Special Economic Zones", and Professor Tan Zhongming, School of Finance and Economics, Jiangsu University, gave a presentation entitled "The Era of Financial Technology: Changes and Challenges in the Financial Industry Professor Tan Zhongming from the School of Finance and Economics of Jiangsu University gave a lecture entitled "Financial Technology Era: Changes and Challenges of Financial Industry". The lecture was hosted by Professor Hu Xuhua, member of the Steering Committee of Graduate Education in Economics of Jiangsu Province and Director of the Institute of Industrial Economics of Jiangsu University.

    In the afternoon of November 12, the sub-court briefing was held through Tencent Conference Online. The presenters of the six sessions expressed their views on the themes of technological innovation and industrial upgrading, international competition and foreign trade, low-carbon economy and green development, digital empowerment and industrial transformation, financial innovation and enterprise management, and high-quality development of regional economy, and the experts gave detailed analysis and guidance, presenting a wonderful academic feast. After the presentation, Mr. Liu Hongyan, Associate Researcher of the Institute of Economic Research, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Editor of Economic Dynamics, and Ms. Zhao Wenqing, Deputy Editor of Jiangsu University Journal and Editor of Jiangsu University Journal (Social Science Edition), shared their experience in manuscript review, journal policy trends, requirements and precautions for manuscript submission with the participating graduate students. Mr. Liu Hongwei, editor of the Journal of Economics, and Ms. Zhao Wenqing, editor of the Journal of Jiangsu University and editor of the Social Science Edition of Jiangsu University, shared their experience in manuscript review, journal policy trends, submission requirements and precautions with the participants.

    At the closing ceremony of the contest, Prof. Zhang Cheng, Secretary General of the Secretariat of Jiangsu Provincial Steering Committee for Postgraduate Education in Economics and Dean of School of Finance of Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, read out the list of authors who won the third prize, second prize and first prize in turn. Professor Hu Xuhua, member of the Steering Committee of Economics Education in Jiangsu Province and Director of the Institute of Industrial Economics of Jiangsu University, made a summary of the competition.

    The competition is aimed at promoting academic exchanges and solving practical problems in China, guiding postgraduates to think deeply about the important statement of General Secretary Xi Jinping in the report of the 20th Party Congress about "adhering to a high level of opening up to the outside world, accelerating the construction of a new development pattern with the domestic circulation as the main body and the domestic and international circulation promoting each other", which is of great practical significance to further promote open development in the new era and the new journey, constantly opening up a new situation of win-win cooperation and enhancing the momentum and vitality of socialist modernization.
